Ulla's Vintage Beads

Ulla Deleuran is one of the shop's completely local artisans. She lives in a neighboring street to the shop and came by one day in the shop's early days with her necklaces made of real pearls. She primarily works with vintage pearls from old pearl necklaces, which she gives new life to. She buys pearl jewelery from Copenhagen jewellers, cuts up the chains and mixes the antique pearls with single natural stones or crystals before stringing them onto a new string or chain.

Ulla is particularly skilled at finding large pearls in very fine condition. She works both with classic white and beige pearls, but also occasionally finds both pink and peach colored ones.

Ulla makes a few chains at a time and produces primarily on demand. That is why there is always a smaller selection, as it is important that the chains find an owner and not lie around gathering dust.

As a customer once said to me when he bought one of Ulla's necklaces for his wife "Pearls should not lie in a drawer and languish, they are an organic material that comes to life and becomes more beautiful by being used.... At least that's what my mother always said!”
