The room at Holbergsgade no. 7 was not intended to be a shop at all. When Neel, the store's founder, rented the beautiful old premises a few years ago, it was to be primarily used as an office and workshop. At the time, she was working on a completely different project, where she worked with badly needed cartoonists in Lebanon. Unfortunately, the situation in Lebanon gradually worsened, and as other challenges also arose, the project had to be put on hold.
So there she was, with a failed project and a rent for a room she couldn't afford. But fortunately the naked woman teacher enjoyed spinning, and in a very short time she had found a group of artisans and had filled the room with beautiful and whimsical things.
In the spring of 2022, there was a shop. It hadn't found a precise form yet, but it had a direction. The store should be full of joy. The ingenuity of skilled people, beautiful colors, funny whims and of course made with respect for our planet and its inhabitants.
Best of all, it wasn't just Neel himself who was delighted by the store's contents, it seemed others felt the same way.
The store is, here a few years later, still heading in the same direction. Some adjustments have been made along the way, and many more artists and small brands have joined with their own fabulous projects. During these first few years, the goal may have also become clearer. To sell things that have a justification in the world, things that make you happy because they are made with care and most of all because they are particularly fine.
Sustainable packaging
Part of our goal is to pack our shipments with recycling in mind. Therefore, we reuse packaging whenever possible and often pack your order in used shipping boxes and always with recycled box filling.
In addition, we have entered into a partnership with RE-ZIP, which is reusable packaging. When you return the RE-ZIP packaging, we can use it again, and that's what makes all the difference to the environmental impact. Social responsibility
What are good conditions and sustainable products can be a difficult quantity to precisely define. It depends on the product, purpose and production.
Danish production
Our largest product group comes from Danish designers and artisans, which have many environmental benefits. This is, for example, minimal emissions from transport, a small production with very little waste, a focus on durability and not rapidly changing trends. Furthermore, the working environment is, for the most part, characterized by creativity, joy and passion.
Foreign production
When we take in small brands that produce their goods outside Denmark's borders, these have a purpose or mission. Here, it is often the human aspect that is in focus. These projects are versatile and can be anything from preserving a special craft to creating better production conditions in the coffee industry. But there are also brands such as Coucou Suzette, which of course work with better plastic alternatives and good working conditions, but where the most important thing is to create smiles and joy in everyday life.
